Shot during the heaviest snow fall of 2025 around a small flat in Muskegon, MI, Width is arranged to follow the ligaments of a poem that had been scratched into a receipt back in the doorway of the apartment. Length is treated as an exercise. The title, referring to positioning one's body against a kitchen table top, acts as a novella. Given condition of one's environment, the way arms move across a bed sheet, and how their signatures resemble scrapes against a parking lot fence. The short story pulls you through a single block, only to arrive back into the room the book opens into, sitting with arms splayed across a counter top, letting your follicles grab onto the warmth spilling from the furnace. Your mind quickly flashes to being crouched near a cabin some miles down the road. Peering through dead branches at a bird house, barely hanging.
